Acesti au devenit alchimisti iar colonelul Roy Mustang i-a propous lui Ed sa devina Alchimist de Stat.Ed a considerat asta o sansa pentru a afla cat mai multe despre cum sa isi recapete corpurile afland ca se poate folosind piatra filosofala.Ei au renuntat sa o mai caute cautand alte moduri prin care sa isi readuca corpurile la normal din cauza ca piatra filosofala era creata din vieti omenesti.
